Sand Dunes

the forest grows where roads cannot be maintained
the bumps and dips of pavement
send shock waves through travelers
while the river is forced this way and that
as it tries to unite with its lover the ocean
the sun and the sky are like dancers
among the heavens their movements
stir the embrace of the wind

celestial pirouettes form the smooth contours
unimaginable lines waiting to be disturbed
the jealousy of the tides
the forest grows and the sea remains

below the heavens and through the reign of time
sand dunes covered in blankets of moss
disguise the ever changing moods of the earth mother
as she spins along the long beautiful path
